Karina, as Miss Berkovitsa 2023, what responsibilities come with holding this title, and how has it impacted both your personal and professional life?
It is a great honor for me to hold this Miss Berkovitsa crown. The responsibility is great. The rules must be followed because you are a representative of your city. And you must hold the title with dignity. I would say that I am the same before and after the crown. It affected me because through this title I reached the top – my participation in Miss Bulgaria.
In your free time, what activities do you enjoy the most? How do they help you relax and stay balanced?
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my relatives and friends, traveling around Bulgaria to appreciate our beautiful nature, and dancing—it’s how I express myself. My favorite place, to which I would go many more times, is Krastova Gora. The place is magical. It has a very strong energy. I am a person of faith and this place recharges me spiritually. It is located in the Rhodopes. A beautiful, invigorating and lovely place. I also love walking alone, as it helps me rethink things and make decisions. Yoga and Pilates are part of my routine too, sometimes with friends, to keep my body fit, flexible, strong, relax, and escape real life for a while. Keeping my body healthy is essential because it’s my strength.
What do you love most about your hometown, Berkovitsa, and what are the must-see places or unique experiences you’d like to share with our readers?
In my city, you can enjoy beautiful nature. You can climb the ‘Kaleto’ area and look at the whole city from above. We also have two museums, one of which was the home of Ivan Vazov. The other museum, the Ethnographic Museum, introduces visitors to the material and spiritual culture of the population. And last but not least, there’s the Clock Tower, the emblem of the city. For more than 260 years, its copper bell has been measuring time.
Can you share a bit more about your background growing up in Berkovitsa? How has your passion for dance influenced your journey and shaped who you are today?
I was born in Montana. I grew up in Berkovitsa. Already when I was 5 years old, I started dancing folk dances. Through them I have been expressing my Bulgarian soul for 14 years. I have danced in Bulgaria, Greece and Macedonia. People’s admiration has always shown me why I do it.
When it comes to sharing photos on social media, what type of content do you think resonates most with your followers?
I upload a variety of photos. But I’ve noticed that people like photos from different places the most. When you travel and take pictures in every place, these are the pictures they like the most. I also take a lot of selfies because my audience has always told me that I have incredibly beautiful and natural features.
To summarize, followers are most attracted to a variety of photos. If selfies are repeated in several posts in a row, they lose interest. However, by diversifying with different pictures from various locations, you maintain their engagement.
You’ve shared how important hard work and effort are in achieving success. What challenges have you faced along the way, and how did you overcome them?
I struggled many times to get into fashion. I sent my CV to various fashion agencies. There was no success. But I wanted it so badly. And finally they found me. We started working together and it was everything I ever dreamed of. I have also come across scams, fake fashion agencies. I want to advise people to be careful. There are some very dangerous people out there. Always check exactly where you are submitting your CV and that it is in the right place.
For many young women, self-confidence can be a struggle. What advice would you give to someone who is feeling insecure about pursuing their dreams?
I would like to give them advice. Never put your head down. Don’t think you’re not worthy. Everyone shines differently. And someone will ever see that. Be patient and keep working on yourself.
As someone who has already experienced the Miss Bulgaria competition, what advice or tips would you give to new faces who are thinking about participating in the future?
I would tell them that this is the most wonderful experience. To enjoy every moment. On stage, in front of all the people, with so many cameras, you feel like the only queen. Enjoy the moment. Show what you can do. And why not become the new Miss Bulgaria?
Looking forward, what are your next goals, both in the world of pageantry and in your personal or professional life
I hope to successfully complete my higher education. To continue to walk the fashion scenes. To inspire younger girls who want to do it. I am happy where I am at the moment and I hope to only go forward and up.
